How to make a signal flare launcher (fail?)

The easy way to make a signal flare launcher... honestly cheaper than buying the flare pistol, but definitely a little more work. With all the discussion about 3-D printed boomsticks, I figured I would show just how easy it is to make something similar (though not really a gun) with simple hardware.

For the record, people have been making making their own fire arm type things since the ancient Chinese in about 1200 A.D. so this is nothing new.

It is, however, potentially very dangerous, so DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME without extensive education, and preferably a mechanical engineering degree.
