Описание к видео Sello Huma – The Crossroads Spirits of the Dead Migrants Must Return Home / Why My Children

Sello Huma reads "The Crossroads Spirits of the Dead Migrants Must Return Home" and "Why, My Children", two of his poems. Huma gave the reading on 17 October 2024 at an online event hosted by CivicLeicester, Regularise and Forced Migration and The Arts as part of the Africa Migration Report Poetry Anthology readings and conversations series.[1] "The Crossroads Spirits of the Dead Migrants Must Return Home" and "Why, My Children" are featured in "Japa Fire: An Anthology of Poems on African and African Diasporic Migration" (CivicLeicester, 2024)[2], the first poetry collection in the series.

ABOUT THE POET

Sello Huma is a spirited and musically inclined poet and social entrepreneur from Limpopo in South Africa. His poems and songs are the books of our ancestors focusing on issues related to African unity, culture, history, futures and justice for people of color. Alongside his stage performances, his work can be found in the Sol Plaatjie European Union Poetry Anthology, Ons Klyntji, Afritondo, Agbowó, New Coin, Brittle Paper, Tampered Press and elsewhere.

ABOUT THE POETRY ANTHOLOGY SERIES

The Africa Migration Report Poetry Anthology Series is a multi-year, multi-volume initiative that is publishing poetry collections on exploring themes around African and African diasporic migration and (im)mobility. The series was inspired by the "Africa Migration Report: 2nd Edition" published by the African Union Commission and International Organisation for Migration in March 2024.[3]

Our call for submissions[4] is open 365 days a year because every day is Africa Day and because we would like to keep the conversation going for as long as it takes for the African migrant to be treated with dignity and respect on the continent and around the world.
