A presentation to 14-year-old students at Didsbury High School in Manchester UK delivered on Friday 30 June 2023.

It begins by disclosing the speaker's political history, so that the students know the perspective he is speaking from.

It then explains why the quality of government matters, and summarises the different parts of government:

the Executive
the Legislature
the Judiciary

It recommends learning about the USA's Constitution as the best way to understand the issues in devising all constitutions. The speaker explains that the students will understand the UK better after learning about the design choices made in the USA's Constitution.

He then explains how populist leaders around the world operate to a common "playbook" as they go about subverting democracy and the rule of law.

Finally he discusses what the students can do, since in four years time they will be voting citizens of the UK.
