Few people have had as big an impact on my playing and my life as ‪@DeanBrownMusic‬ did. A Jazz Fusion Guitar Legend, playing from everyone from The Brecker Brothers and Marcus Miller to Herbie Hancock and Lenny White, he was as humble as he was knowledgeable. Dean pushed me to reach my true voice with the instrument, giving me the confidence to believe in myself and my sound. When I was done studying with him, he insisted on staying and touch and sharing whatever I wrote next. He sadly passed away shortly after the release of my first EP, and I never got to show him what his passion inspired in my, but that same week I wrote what is now the chorus on "Earthtone Echo", inspired by his unique blend of Jazz Rock and Latin grooves.

My good buddy drummer Dhruv Mittal and me had been meaning to collab for a long time, meeting in LA right as we arrived and going through a lot of growth and struggle as we set into the city and found our inner flame. Dean was a mentor to both of us, so when Dhruv suggested we worked on developing what was just a 30 second reel into a full song for our first project, it felt like fate was making that choice for us.
