YouTube and the Google+ system uses ghost banning to deal with spammers. But it isn't as useful as it might at first seem.

One of the things I don't mention in the video is that there is no way of knowing what it is that will get you banned or how individual parts of the google+ ghost banning system is weighted. For example if users abuse the "flag for spam" option does this still lead to a ban? What keywords are more likely to result in an automatic ban? How long does a ban last? It's a muddy, murky, confusing and irritating method for dealing with spammers that is affecting regular users.
