Painting Demonstration of Venice

This is a short 6 minute video of some of the block in for the Venice, Italy Painting.

This week I painted a scene from Venice, Italy that I got from a photograph. Last week, I drew from the photograph of what I believed was the best composition and structure for my painting. The interesting part for me was how last week, I planned on a structure with a specific focal point... But as I painted... I shifted that focal point to something else.

I wanted to explain that process because we all have decisions to make as we paint!

Even when there is a clear plan of action and structure in place, things can happen! You have to make decisions in art for better or for worse, but they always work out one way or another.
