Hello, Friends!

This extension was made per the request of YouTube user Ramiro Bezer. Thanks for the request!

Star Wars: Battlefront II holds a special place in the hearts of many. Why, you ask? Well, maybe because there are still tons and tons of people playing that game DESPITE the fact that a brand-new “game in the series” came out over a year ago. Battlefront II is a timeless masterpiece, to say the least. It satisfies the cravings of any Star Wars fan, and in multiple ways.

Galactic Conquest was introduced in Battlefront I, and it was certainly one of the standout modes in the game. You’d compete with a friend or the AI, and fight each other planet after planet, using bonuses and the various skills of your army to take over the galaxy. There wasn’t anything quite as satisfying as getting four victories and then using your faction’s special bonus to automatically claim – or destroy – a planet!

Battlefront II changed everything by making the player a “commander” and having them oversee the galaxy as if it were a board game. Players could purchase and move starfleets, purchase bonuses to use, and even recruit more soldiers to use in battle. If you chose to invade a planet, you’d be fighting on the surface, and if you met with the enemy fleet in space, you engaged in a space battle.

The song itself is also great. It has this immense feeling of an epic, coordinated battle. The highlight of this song is definitely its second half, which comes from the excellent song “The Queen and Group Land at Naboo” by John Williams. This song has been featured in many prequel-era games--including Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles, a childhood favorite of mine--as well as Star Wars: The Old Republic (which I personally have not played).

It’s a wonder why Battlefront EA didn’t have this mode. It may not have worked well in a large, 40-player multiplayer environment, but it would have worked wonders for single-players and for split-screen play. To this day, I’m still convinced that Battlefront EA should not have been called “Battlefront;” but rather an entirely new thing. Star Wars: Galactic Civil War, maybe? Perhaps then, it might not have gotten so much backlash…

Anyway, enough ranting. Please enjoy this extension, my fellow Star Wars and gaming fans!

Enjoy, and thanks for watching!
