Poor Man’s Hobo Stove Build, No Costs... No Power Tools

Описание к видео Poor Man’s Hobo Stove Build, No Costs... No Power Tools

Picture this scenario, Grid down and you have to build things with hand tools and found materials...
I found an old rusted through paint can in the woods that I wanted to turn into a Hobo Stove by just using my pocket knife. Even though this prototype burned perfectly, I wasn't happy with the flimsy elevated floor. It was the day after, that I realized how I could have made it so much stronger, but then, I'd have to introduce another tool into the mix, a can opener... So you can make a pretty decent Hobo Stove out of a found can with just a pocket knife or a great one with just a few common hand tools. I started this one out by correcting the prototype's elevated floor and then onto the Poor Man's Hobo Stove build from a paint can that I found at the dump. After the 100 or so latex paint cans that I've used up and thrown away over the years, I couldn't believe what a hard time I had trying to find an empty for this project. LOL!!!
1) A word about safety. If you feel unsafe about using knives in this way don't try it. Check out one of my other build videos with power tools from the LINKS below.
2) Wear gloves.
3) Please note that my arm was anchored to my side while my wrist and hand were anchored to the front of my chest.
4) Also please note, you're going to end up with a stove that has sharp edges EVERYWHERE!!!. If you have ever gotten a paper cut, then this stove's not for you. I have the toughest of hands and callouses from a life full of shoveling asphalt, carpentry, pipe fitting, metal fab, etc, and just always loving to create and work with my hands.
5) Please be CAREFUL!!!
6) Toxicity of burning paint residue and the coating on the inside of a paint can???... Burning paint residue does produce toxic gases. Burning anything produces toxic gases. You know like the car we drive, our lawn mower, the coal our power company uses to make electricity, all the off gases produced by our state and government and military services.... then there's China produced products.... I do a good hot burn off of all new stoves before I use the ashes out of them or cook on them. Use your own judgement concerning the off gases being produced by a new stove.
