THIS IS THE FIRST FILM IN HISTORY NARRATED IN THE ANCIENT LOKONO-ARAWAK LANGUAGE
It is the TV documentary version of the story in the book I wrote of the same name (available on Amazon and 10 different ebook sellers) , about the English Colonial era hidden/suppressed Indigenous history of Barbados that I uncovered in their own English Colonial records, which initially claimed the island (unlike EVERY other Caribbean island) was 'uninhabited' (the same LIE the English claimed about Australia), YET, in multiple cases hidden in their own English colonial records we find statements from the 1700's such as 'when the Indians have any problem with the settlers - they retreat back into the forest on the east coast where they live' etc. We also find that contemporaries of the English Captain Powell who first claimed Barbados was 'uninhabited' - describe Captain Powell as a 'known liar',

Here it is - our first completed film project, the TV Documentary Version of the screen adaptation of my book of the same name - 'The Last Arawak Girl Born in Barbados - A 17th Century Tale.
My first attempt in 2018 to make a documentary film in Guyana failed because I naively depended on OTHERS to donate all the funds I needed to do my film, and only 7.5% of the budget I needed then - was ever donated.

Having learned my lesson 3 years ago about the perils of completely depending on the charity of others - to get what YOU want to be done, on the 5th of October 2021 when I first had the idea to create this new film; I decided I would self-finance the creation of a completed purely educational TV Documentary Version - in order to use this to attract donors to fund a full-length feature Movie version where the characters come to life in more personal ways, and address indigenous rights, as well as philosophical & social issues that are still relevant to civil society today.

47 days after having the idea to make this TV Documentary version, the finished product film you see here was completed and ready for viewing as you see it now. My Indigenous brother & professional Film Producer - Mr. Roberto Penuela, told me ''Never before have I ever heard of anyone creating a film without a script, without a planned budget, without any Film School or Cinematography education whatsoever, and using only an old model Iphone S6 - from idea to finished product - in just 47 days''.

I have no doubt that MANY who heard that I was 'making a film' - had a hearty laugh at my confidence, and were utterly convinced that once again I was doomed to failure - for all the above reasons. However, I learn from my mistakes, and the more other people tell me that I 'cannot' do something, is the more I develop a fanatical determination to prove them wrong, and I always DO accomplish things - MY way (some call it 'artistic eccentricity').

I feel utterly convinced that I CAN and WILL accomplish much more in my lifetime, therefore I do not recline into the bosom of contentment, but instead - I ever strive to do more, on the local, regional, and international scene, so that my name shall endure after me.
This latest effort has now defacto created an Indigenous Caribbean Grassroots Film Industry, and I have every intention to create films about ALL the little-known TAINO, KALINAGO, NEPUYO, MAYAN & GARIFUNA Indigenous heroes of the Caribbean/CARICOM countries - who so valiantly fought to resist the genocidal tidal wave of European Invasion and Colonization, for it is thanks to them - that we are alive today to finally bring them to life on screen, it is the least we can do for our ancestors who sacrificed so much - to ensure our continued existence.
