"Hostages" ( Operation Jupiter in France), released on Atari ST in 1989, is the ancestor of "Rainbow Six " 's games .

You take the control of GIGN's squad (french special unit) who is facing a hostage-taking in an embassy .
The game is divided into several phases:
- The placement of snipers to theirs shooting positions
- The elimination of terrorists by snipers
- The deployment of the assault group in the building where it is necessary to save the hostages and bring them to safety in a room on the 3rd floor and eliminate terrorists .
