OLD 401k Dilemma! Should I rollover my Vanguard 401k? SoFi... Fidelity... Back to Vanguard?

Today's video I go over two old 401k plans that my wife and I have. Yes, we have two old 401ks that are actually Vanguard 401ks, that we have had now for years.

Exactly how long have they sat there?

For my wife = 8.5 years

For me = 6.5 years

The mutual fund they were invested into was the Vanguard Institutional Index Fund (VINIX), which is essentially the S&P 500. The Vanguard mutual fund paid quarterly dividends and year end capital gain distributions.

BUT then, something happened.

Appears my old employer changed what plan options the 401k has. On August 30th, 2024, my VINIX investment was converted to a Vanguard Institutional 500 Index Trust Unit D investment. What?

No ticker. No dividend/income it provides. Nadda.

The plan also fees us, combined, for a total of $12/quarter or $48/year.

This doesn't bode well for me for tracking my investments, that's for sure. The expense ratio might be lower somewhat.

Therefore, with this change, I am ready to make a rollover decision. Watch the video to see if i should rollover my 401k to:
Fidelity
Sofi
Ride it out

I dissect each option and the way to each 401k rollover option. The question I have for you is - what would you do? Would you rollover your 401k to Fidelity? Would you keep your Vanguard 401k and actually rollover your 401k to Vanguard IRAs?
