Ingredients: 2 cups self rising flour, 1/4 cup shortening, 1 cup buttermilk. Start with 2 cups self rising flour in large mixing bowl, you may whisk or sift the flour, I like to swirl it around with my fingers. This adds air to your flour and makes your buscuits fluffy. Then get your shortening into your palm of your hand and work it into your flour by squeezing it between your fingers. After youve worked your shortening into the flour, pour all your buttermilk into the mix and work the buttermilk into the flour shortening mixture by the same method by sqeezing between your fingers. Take your other hand and scrape off the excess dough. You shouldnt see any residual flour in your mixing bowl, only dough. Clean your hands of the sticky residual dough. Have some extra flour handy and sprinkle your dough with flour and flour your hands. Pinch off a palm size amount of dlough and cup it in palm of your hands and roll into a ball. Place on your baking sheet that you have generously greased with shortening. Flour your hands as often as needed. Once youve rolled the biscuits place them into preheated oven at 450 for 15 minutes. Once biscuits are out of the oven butter the tops, and enjoy with your favorite jam or syrup. I aplogize for not having a clear view of the hands during the rolling of the biscuits.
