"I Can't Believe We're Here" // The Swoopes // Napa Valley Wedding

So I often get asked by clients and other filmmakers “how do you decide what to do for a story session? It’s different every time, but we do have a few starting guidelines. First we try to pinpoint if there is a place, activity, and/or thing that holds some significance in their relationship. It could be a simple prop like a deck of cards that we build from. Maybe you met at a concert or you love staying in and cooking together. Sometimes story sessions are hanging around a fire pit the night before your wedding and sharing stories with your loved ones. It’s a great opportunity for me to build trust with my couples. I take pride in having a very soft and natural touch to filming. Getting to achieve this ahead of time ultimately helps them be more present on their wedding day (which we love!). Everything should start feeling less and less like a production.

For Brooke and Erik’s story session, we decided to put together a fun date night. To them that meant going to a winery, driving through a Napa Valley sunset with the top down, and ending the night with burgers and shakes. Not too bad right? The night was full of smiles, laughs, and heartfelt conversations. I love that these simpler moments become part of their wedding story.
