In this video I talk about the connection between architectural drawing and thinking. This idea has helped me to understand the design of buildings and communicate architectural ideas. To demonstrate the concept I take a sketching tour of The Bryant building in NYC designed by David Chipperfield Architects.

I share an observational framework consisting of context, form, structure, use and materiality to analyze and understand specific aspects of the building as I'm drawing. I take you through my sketchbook and show you my sketches including a site plan, an elevation, isometrics, a composite elevation / section and a detail.

I learned a lot by recording this process of drawing and thinking. Hopefully this video will be helpful for others and might inspire you to start sketching. Thanks for watching!
