BMW E61 (E60) 2006 530xi Rear Axle Replacement (both axles). Very similar to E60 models

Описание к видео BMW E61 (E60) 2006 530xi Rear Axle Replacement (both axles). Very similar to E60 models

NOTE: an important section of this video was inadvertently left out (camera glitch), but is included on an updated video that can be found here:    • BMW E61 (E60) 2006 530xi Rear Axle Re...   I suggest you navigate to that version of the video (it includes details about removal of the left rear axle that is missing in the original (this) video).

This video shows how to replace both rear CV axles on a 2006 530xi (Touring / Wagon). The process for the right axle is similar to both axles on most E60s. The left rear axle is very different on the wagon, so if you don't have a wagon you can skip the parts unique to that model.

Getting the left rear axle out of the car proved to be the most difficult part of the process, requiring airing down the rear suspension. I did this by loosening the pneumatic lines from the pump / controller unit behind the right rear wheelwell, but it should be possible using INPA, ISTA or a BMW-specific scan tool (which would save some time and fiddly effort).

It might be possible to remove the left rear axle by removing the left diagonal brace and the exhaust system hangers, allowing the exhaust to droop (you should be able to get about 6" or so of extra clearance that way). This may be an easier method for those who aren't comfortable with playing with the air suspension. If anyone does try this method, please (!) let me (us) know how it works out - I'm always looking for the easiest / best way to work on these (complex) cars.

If this video helps you out, I'd appreciate it very much if you would subscribe to my channel. You'll be notified when I post other videos, which I do pretty regularly.
