The newbuilding of the Smit Singapore, later renamed to Smitwijs Singapore and M.V. Singapore in service of Smitwijs and Svitzer Ocean Towage. This vessel was built at the Niestern Sander Shipyard in Delfzijl, The Netherlands in 1983 and has ever since been sailing around the world to perform Towage, Salvage and Offshore support services. Some of which are barely noticed by the general public, but it was also involved in events which were greatly covered by the media, for example in the salvage of the nucleair submarine Kursk in 2001.
