GREEN POWER
Troublemaker Tom Green dropped by to demolish the new AOTS set and to talk about his video blog, which details his life.
“You can look at pictures and read stuff,” he said of his site, TomGreen.com. “But my favorite part is the blog. I blog every day. It’s fun. I’m building a dog house now, so I took a little video of that. If you like dog houses, check it out.”

Tom then proceeded to destroy one of our new, decorative light bulbs, which immediately set itself aflame.

“I’m out of gross comedy,” he announced. “Now I’m into breaking light bulbs. It was cool how it almost burned down the studio.”

Visit Tom’s blog here. If you wear a Tom Green T-shirt and take a picture of yourself wearing it in an exotic location, he’ll post it.

“Blogging is the wave of the future, folks!” he said in parting.

Let’s just call it what it is: a highly embarrassing first for the internet. Utilizing a USB webserver about half the size of a pack of gum that runs Perl, PHP, SMTP, and POP3, we were able to run a web page from a volunteer’s rectum.
We enlisted Stephen Patt, M.D. to insert the device: “We made it as safe and sanitary as possible,” he said, “but it is a little different.”

Different enough to grab about 24,000 page views in the 40 minutes or so that the server was lodged in its temporary home.

How did it feel?

“It was tight,” our volunteer admitted. “It was slightly unpleasant. But I always hoped to live my life in infamy, and I think I will now.”

The server has since been dislodged, but you can visit the web page at www.yourassgotserved.com.

Warning: Do not attempt to recreate this at home!

INDIE FILM DOWN SOUTH
Brendan visited the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas and immersed himself in independent cinema. Here are the films featured in his report:
My Big Fat Independent Movie by Chris Gore

CL.ONE by Jason Tomaric

Hooligans by Lexi Alexander

Shooting Livien by Rebecca Cook

THE FEED
Today we looked at the MGM vs. Grokster Supreme Court case, a decision which may change the world of P2P file sharing and technological innovation in general. The Electronic Frontier Foundation is defending Streamcast Networks in the case, and the organization's Ren Bucholz called to give his reactions to the first day’s events: “The overriding sentiment of the staff is that the court is asking the right questions.”
For complete coverage, head over to the EFF’s MGM vs. Grokster page.

YOW! IT’S DVDUESDAY!
FilmThreat.com’s Chris Gore rendered his verdicts on today’s biggest DVD releases:
Apollo 13 Anniversary Edition: “It’s one of the only films you can say has a suspense sequence involving long division,” he said. “But it totally works. It’s a great action movie, a great retelling of a historical event.” But he thought the commentary track wasn’t great, and the included IMAX version doesn’t make much sense on the small screen. The standard version will do you fine if you already own it.
Verdict: Rent It!

The Clone Wars: Volume 1: Genndy Tartakovsky’s Star Wars cartoon series has “the stuff the prequels should have shown,” Chris said. “These cartoons actually outpace the movies in terms of story and action.”
Verdict: Buy It!
