In this presentation, USDTL's Andre Sukta, Research and Development Projects Manager, will go through the background of xylazine, why it was developed, what it is primarily used for, and the prevalence and co-exposure of it being used in a human population.

Speaker: Andre Sukta, MSFS
Andre Sukta is the research and development projects manager at USDTL, a privately owned laboratory, specializing in non-traditional matrices. He began his career in forensic toxicology in performance testing of race horses. He transitioned to performing DUI testing and then moved to USDTL specializing in hair, fingernails, meconium, and umbilical cord testing. He is a Director for the Society of Forensic Toxicologists and serves on the Executive Board for the Alcohol, Drugs, and Impairment Division of the National Safety Council. He is also a member and past chair of the Section on Cannabis within the Alcohol, Drug, and Impairment Division of the National Safety Council.
