Aloha all! We are Alexus and Michi: Fourth year PhD students and an LGBT couple at University of Hawai'i at Mānoa (UH Manoa), located in Honolulu, Hawaii. In this week’s PhD vlog, we share a week in the life as graduate students in Oahu, Hawaii, USA. Alexus is a PhD student studying Biological Oceanography (Marine Biology, Ecology, Deep Sea Biology) and Michi is an international PhD student studying Second Language Studies (Applied Linguistics).

In this October/Fall 2023 episode, we show our typical morning routine as graduate students, our marathon training progress, a date night at Ala Moana Beach Park, Alexus’ PhD lab work, some work from home days, writing an abstract for an international conference, lots of emailing, and a quick trip to Los Angeles to visit family, and a bonus Trader Joe’s and Target haul with my sister Lydia!
