In this episode, I speak with Qasim Sarfraz, an open-source maintainer on Inspektor-Gadget, about whether Inspektor-Gadget can meet Kubernetes autoscaling needs on its own and the best ways to integrate it with the rest of your stack.

TL;DR
Inspektor-Gadget is a powerful data collection/observability integration layer, not a standalone autoscaler.
Use it to collect rich signals (e.g., per-container processes, DNS, kernel events) and forward to metric backends (Prometheus / OpenTelemetry).
Combine those signals with signaling & automation tools (HPA/VPA, KEDA, Grafana alerts, policy engines like OPA/Kyverno, or AI-driven optimizers) to get production-grade autoscaling behavior.
Best approach: integrate and leverage Inspektor-Gadget for telemetry, then feed that into scaling decisions and policy-driven automation.
