Rainy days are here once again and everybody wants to sit down with a big bowl of hot soup to warm their system.

It’s typical for us Pinoys to pair our meals with something hot. But for us Bacolodnons, a piping serving of cansi is the best there is. Its soft meat, bone marrow completes the soothing sour broth that makes us crave for more rice.

Located along Capitol Shopping Center in Barangay Villamonte is Eron’s Cansi House. They are one of the few eateries in the city that serve authentic cansi and Filipino inspired dishes, and patrons usually frequent the place during lunchtime and for take outs.

Eron’s was once known as Connie’s Cansi House until the owners decided to sell the restaurant. Along with the latter’s cooks, Eron’s was established in 2011 and it continued Connie’s legacy and flavor.

Aside from cansi, Eron’s is also popular for their home cooked meals. This is also one reason why they are usually packed during weekdays. To augment their growing clientele, the management helps in cooking and preparing their menu.

The main highlight however is still the cansi. Eron’s can cook 7 to 9 cauldrons of these boiled beef shanks a day and this routine stretch over the entire week. But this is no easy task even for a seasoned business. Their day usually starts as 6:00 in the morning and that it includes going to the market to buy the freshest shanks and other ingredients.

Although restaurants will have their take on the traditional recipe, Eron’s management sees this not as a competition, but a reminder that they are one of the best in serving cansi. They are currently planning to branch out and bring the unique taste of Bacolod to Davao.
