One sunny morning, a father and son set out for a peaceful day of fishing on a small lake...

As the boat drifts into the middle of the lake, the boy, eyes wide with curiosity, starts looking around.

After a few quiet moments, he breaks the silence...

"Dad," he starts, his brow furrowing in thought, "how does this boat float?"

The father, hands on the fishing rod, shrugs and says, "Don’t rightly know, son. I’ve never really thought about it."

The boy nods, but his curiosity isn't satisfied.

He leans over the edge of the boat, watching a school of fish swim gracefully beneath the water...

"Dad, how do fish breathe underwater?"

His father, still staring at his fishing line, scratches his head and replies, "Don’t rightly know that one either, son."

A few minutes later, as a bird flying overhead catches the boys eye, he looks up and asks, "Dad, why is the sky blue?"

Without even looking up, the father gives a familiar answer: "Don’t rightly know, son."

The boy falls silent for a moment, feeling like he might be annoying his father with all these questions.

But after some time, he turns to him again, a bit more hesitant this time...

"Dad, do you mind me asking you all these questions?"

The father, still watching the water intently for any signs of a fish, glances over at his son with a smile and says, "Course not, son... "

"If you don’t ask questions, you never learn nothin’."
