Mecca is absolutely important to Islam. This is the place where Adam, Eve, and Abraham were to have lived. It is supposed to be the oldest city in the world famed for its culture, trade, and the birthplace of Muhammad, yet there is absolutely no historical evidence of this. No historians mention Mecca - ever - not until the 7th century which is much too late for the wild claims of Islam. Plenty of other towns are documented, but not Mecca. The Standard Islamic Narrative has nothing to stand on.
