The reason for taking parry with the sword (   • Craftopia - Skill tree and equipment ...  ) is because it is compatible with the sword-and-shield version.
Originally, the "Air Iai Katana build" of the sword was a later development, and the sword-and-shield type was originally conceived first (   • Craftopia - Boss Battle.  ).
Therefore, the sword-and-shield type is the standard skill structure.

The sword is a type devoted to attack, while the sword-and-shield is a type devoted to defense.

Iai-kiri and Lightning Speed have the same means and methods of attack.
The difference is that the shield can guard and parry.

The calculation is based on the assumption that the sword and sword-and-shield immediately switch offense and defense, since there is no need to reset the skills.
I always have a hidden one-handed sword and shield in my inventory.
