By the time you are watching this video, #voyager-1 would be already traveled more than 14 billion miles away from the earth. That means it would take light from #voyager to reach earth around 21:04 hr.

The Voyager twin #spacecraft’s are exploring where nothing from Earth has flown before. Continuing on their more-than-43-year journey, since their 1977 launches, it is much farther away from Earth and the sun than Pluto.

In Summer 1965 A once-in-a-lifetime alignment was found out by Nasa scientists, whose calculations revealed that it is possible for a spacecraft launched in the late 1970s to visit all four #giant outer planets, using the gravity of each #planet to swing the #spacecraft on the next. This alignment occurs once every 176 years
Which is once in a lifetime opportunity for all mankind.

As originally designed, the Voyagers were to conduct closeup studies of Jupiter and Saturn, Saturn's rings, and the larger moons of the two planets.

it began #photographing Jupiter in January 1979. And Its closest approach to Jupiter was on March 5, 1979, at a distance of about 349,000 kilometers from the planet's center.(Audio Break TL-1)
Highlights of the encounter include the discoveries of the first active volcanoes spotted beyond Earth, the Jovian ring system, and two moons (Thebe and Metin). #Scientists also find that the Great Red Spot is a huge cyclone-tie storm.


Voyager 1 makes its closest approach to #Saturn's largest moon Titan and Saturn itself. Highlights from the Saturn encounter include the discovery of three moons (Atlas, Prometheus, and Pandora).

At a distance of about 4 billion miles (6 billion kilometers) from the sun, Voyager 1 takes the last images of the mission: the "Solar System Family Portrait'' it is the only series of images that captures Venus, Earth, Jupiter, #Saturn, #Uranus, and #Neptune.
Imaging Science Subsystem (ISS): Wide-angle and narrow-angle cameras are turned off to save power
Infrared Interferometer Spectrometer and Radiometer (IRIS) is also turned Off for the same reason.
Plasma Science (PLS) is turned off because of degraded performance on Feb. 1, 2007.
Planetary Radio Astronomy (PRA) is also turned off to save power on Jan. 15, 2008

On August 25, 2012, The First #Human-Made Object in Interstellar Space
Voyager 1 made the historic entry into interstellar space enters interstellar space, passing beyond the heliopause, which is the boundary between our solar bubble and the matter ejected by explosions of other stars. It is the first time a human-made object crosses the threshold of interstellar space and continually collecting data.

the region #between stars, filled with material ejected by the death of nearby stars millions of years ago. these spacecraft are still sending scientific information about their surroundings through the Deep Space Network, or DSN.

Voyager 1 makes the first measurement of the density of the interstellar medium.
Ultraviolet #Spectrometer (UVS) is turned off to save power on April 19, the same year.

As of April 2020, Voyager 1 is at a distance of 22.3 billion kilometers (149.0 AU) from the Sun.

Voyager 1 is escaping the solar system at a #speed of about 3.6 AU per year.

Voyager 1 is expected to reach the theorized Oort cloud in about 300 years and take about 30,000 years to pass through it. #Though it is not heading towards any particular star, in about 40,000 years, it will pass within 1.6 light-years of the star Gliese 445, which is at present in the constellation #Camelopardalis and 17.1 light-years from Earth. That star is generally moving towards the Solar System at about 119 km/s (430,000 km/h; 270,000 mph). NASA says that "The Voyagers are destined—perhaps eternally—to wander the Milky Way. In 300,000 years it will pass within less than 1 light-year of the M3V star.
