04:49 II. Adagio
09:24 III. Allegro assai

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote this sonata during a summer visit to Salzburg, made for the purpose of introducing his wife Constanze to his father in 1783. This piece consists of three movements: Allegro, Adagio, and Allegro assai. The first movement is in a classical sonata form, with the traditional exposition, development and recapitulation; even though Mozart presents interesting changes in each section’s internal structure. Mozart uses song-like themes and the combination of styles of simplicity and immediacy of appeal. Next, the second movement is in an elaborately ornamented sonatina form. It begins with a lyrical passage with a minor descending melody into changing keys to the parallel minor, B-flat minor. Various different ornamentations like trills, scale passages, and turns can be heard through the main theme of the second movement. Finally, in the third movement, the audience will hear a forte chord followed by a passage of fast sixteenth notes in the right hand. Many character changes can be heard throughout the movement.
