"Micro-Concerto" was composed by the GRAMMY-winning composer, Steven Mackey. This piece for percussion soloist and quintet was inspired from Mackey's observation of the relationship between percussionist's adventurous attitude towards their instrument(s). American percussionist, Hunter Gross, presented this performance in Jacksonville, FL, on March 31st, 2021. Hunter performed with the University of North Florida, NuMIX Ensemble, conducted and led by Dr. Erin Bodnar.

More About Hunter:
Hunter Gross is an American percussionist, chamber musician, and educator based in Jacksonville, Florida. Garnering recognition as a performer, Hunter has won multiple awards that include first prize in the Keyboard Division of the 2020 Percussive Arts Society International Convention Solo Competition, as well as receiving the Oklahoma State Superintendent’s Award for Arts Excellence. Hunter has performed with some of the top ensembles around the world such as the American Modern Orchestra in New York and has collaborated with award-winning composers including Molly Joyce, Steven Snowden, and Benjamin Finley. Hunter holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Oklahoma and is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Percussion Percussion Performance under decorated percussionist, Dr. Andrea Venet. Hunter is an artist with the Heartland Marimba Ensemble and is involved with professional organizations including the Percussive Arts Society Student Committee.
