Dreams are important, you don't dream very much when you're on the streets.

Coming from homeless, to having your own key, you can lock your own door, it does a lot for an individual.

Everyone deserves safe, decent, affordable housing, yet too many families are struggling to afford basic necessities.

The pandemic amplified these challenges and highlighted the need to aggressively address racial disparities impacting communities of color.

MSHDA is spearheading a strategic planning effort to create Michigan's first five-year Statewide Housing Plan.

"Once you don't have all the normal stuff to worry about, there's something else that comes alive in you and then you work on it to where it becomes a profession and then when it becomes a profession it becomes a career.

"It's something that you sometimes never know it's there until you start working on it and then you see how it blossoms from the seed to the flower."

The Statewide Housing Plan is a comprehensive approach using data to identify challenges facing Michigan residents and action steps to overcome those challenges.

These are complex challenges that require a comprehensive approach, bringing together partners, communities, stakeholders from across the state of Michigan to collaboratively work together to develop solutions to these challenges that will benefit all of Michigan's residents.
