PATHWAY 1 (commonly chosen by Indian trained physiotherapists)
Choose to do a master's program in the USA. STEM (science technology engineering and mathematics) program is advisable as it provides the student with 2 additional years of opt (optional practical training) i.e, you are eligible for a total of 3 years of post-study visa (1 year of regular opt + 2 years of STEM opt)

Commonly chosen masters programs are as follows:
MS in Exercise science
MS in Exercise Physiology
MS in Kinesiology
MS in athletic training/sports science
* A program is named by the university offering it. Two different universities offering programs with the same name “exercise science” need not have the same course modules(they can have totally different syllabus). Hence it is always advisable to go through the course modules of the program on the university website which you are interested in before making any decision.

Following are few STEM programs:
MS in Exercise Science
Long Island University
State University of New York at Buffalo
Adelphi University
Wichita State University
East Stroudsburg University - Pennsylvania
MS in Exercise Physiology
Kent State University
University of South Carolina
Midwestern State University
Florida State University
MS in Kinesiology
Dallas Baptist University
Texas A and M - San Antonio
University of Central Missouri
Michigan State University
California State University - Northridge
Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI)
MS in Athletic Training
Midwestern State University
University of Southern California (MS in Biokinesiology and sports science)

PATHWAY 2
Transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy
Following are the answers to a few common questions that arise:
No, this is not the same as a PhD.

No, you do not have the eligibility to take the NPTE licensure exam after completing the tDPT program. (every foreign-trained PT will have to get their credentials evaluated irrespective of the course they study in the USA)

Universities offering Tdpt are: (most of them require a valid USA PT license)
University of Montana University of St Scholastica
University of Tennessee Arcadia University
AT Still university University of St Augustine
Shenandoah University Boston university
New York University Northeastern University
Utica college
Loma Linda University (non-stem)
