The Rise And Fall Of Atlantis - Plato's Most Famous Story

One of the most infamous stories, the lost city of Atlantis. In the 6th century BCE, Solon, an Athenian
lawmaker travelled to Egypt. There, he learned of a legend where an ancient civilization had been
destroyed by their own greed. The philosopher Plato, inspired by the stories that Solon brought back to
Greece, wrote about a city called Atlantis. It was a highly advanced city with sophisticated technology,
beautiful architecture, and a prosperous society. However, their pursuit of power and wealth led to
corruption. The Greek Gods, noticing the moral decay, decided that a punishment was necessary to
cleanse the land. Poseidon, god of the seas and father of Atlantis, sent a catastrophic tsunami that
submerged the entire island in a single day, wiping out the city and its citizens forever.
