A. Richard Newton Distinguished Innovator Lecture Series Dr. Jun Wu

Dr. Jun Wu, a partner with Zpark ventures, was most recently a scientist at Google, leading the effort of automatic question/answering. After doctorate work at Johns Hopkins, honing an expertise in speech recognition, natural language processing and web search he joined Google in the early days and pioneered their anti-SPAM work, for which he received the Google engineering award. He also authored the Google Chinese/Japanese/Korean search algorithms.

After Google he went to work at Tencent. Tencent is China's largest and most used Internet service portal. Dr. Jun We was VP in charge of the search, infrastructure, map and search ads. He helped the company boost search traffic and revenue by 6 fold in two years.

Dr. Jun Wu holds 10 patents and has authored 3 books, most recently, Civilizations and Enlightenment and earlier On Top of Tides (浪潮之巅）and Beauty of Mathematics (数学之美).
