Worldwide Wanderings Episode III – The All-Merciful Savior Monastery

Nestled in the woods of Murray Island, is something you may not expect to find in the middle of an island, in the middle of the Salish Sea, in the middle of the Puget Sound of Washington State. This is where you will find the All-Merciful Savior Russian Orthodox Monastery, run by my friends (whom I have known for over 20 years now).

The men who live at the Monastery have dedicated themselves to a peaceful life, serving the orthodox communities of the Puget Sound and anyone else who seeks their services or visits their Monastery. At the Monastery they grow much of their produce, raise ducks and chickens, provide several Orthodox religious services, and much more. They have become an essential part of Vashon and Murray Islands (though technically Murray Island is not an Island since it is connected to Vashon). These six monks have been quiet in their resolve and are some of the most welcoming people you could meet.

I am not the first person to make a video about the Monastery, but my focus is different. I want to provide a deeper history of the Monastery and take you on a tour of it.
