The Campeonato de España–Copa de Su Majestad el Rey, commonly known as Copa del Rey, La Copa or (in English) the Spanish Cup, and formerly known as Copa del Presidente de la República[d] (1932–36) and Copa del Generalísimo (1939–76), is an annual knockout football competition in Spanish football, organized by the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
Established in 1903, this tournament stands as the oldest Spanish football contest contested at a national scale. Victory in the Copa del Rey secures qualification for the subsequent season's UEFA Europa League. In instances where the winning team has already secured a European berth through their league performance, the Europa League spot is allocated to the highest-ranked team in the league standings that has not yet earned qualification. Prior to 2014, this spot typically went to the runners-up of the Copa del Rey, unless they had also secured European qualification through their league position.
