The Ministry of Finance’s Financial Division has allocated Tk 20,000 crore as initial capital for the upcoming bank merger. The Bangladesh Bank sees this allocation as a major breakthrough. With a planned capital of Tk 35,000 crore, this new 'Bridge Bank' is set to become the largest bank in the country. The proposed name is United Islami Bank.
