Here is a simple way to splice monofilament to monofilament line together to maintain line capacity on you’re reel. Here we have a Penn HLW 6/0 with 50lb monofilament line. I have unspooled the line from the 6/0 and started back with new line before splicing back on the original line that was on the reel. This is more cost effective and less wasteful with the line as you are only replacing what you need and not the entire spool. You don’t have to put you’re splice near the bottom of the spool I just choose to do so as I had time and another reel to unload the line onto for this.
