“Teostra” is a male Elder Dragon introduced in Monster Hunter 2, known for its ferocity and mastery over flame. Possessing leonine features, this crimson-hued wyvern boasts a flowing mane, fierce golden eyes, and backward-curving horns. Its wings are partially furred, and its bushy tail complements its fiery aesthetic. As the counterpart to Lunastra, Teostra commands immense elemental power, capable of generating an intense heat aura that scorches the earth and burns any hunter who strays too close.

Despite its strong physical prowess, the true threat lies in its manipulation of explosive scale powder. Teostra sheds this powder into the air while moving or flapping its wings, saturating the battlefield. With a single spark—produced by gnashing its fangs—it can trigger a wave of fiery detonations. Hunters must watch for the spark's color: red signals a close-range explosion, while yellow warns of a long-range detonation. Its devastating Supernova attack ignites all present powder at once, resulting in an apocalyptic blast capable of annihilating anything nearby.

The beast’s flame aura, which heightens its flamethrower’s length and duration, activates only when it is calm. This aura can produce Dragon Wind when Teostra roars, disrupting movement and making approaches dangerous. However, poisoning or flinching the Elder Dragon can suppress this aura entirely, allowing a brief window for counterattacks.

Though often solitary, Teostra will cooperate with Lunastra if she is present in the same environment, even engaging in a "Bonding" animation that strengthens both monsters. Typically unrelenting, it does not offer intruders a chance to flee, choosing instead to chase them until either they or it fall.
