Introducing the latest member of the #seapeople and #oranglaut team… our long awaited boat and operational HQ!


Retiring from a life of tourism in Komodo National Park, and thanks to the incredible generosity of @Planete Mer, @Fondation de la Mer and her previous owners, this unique wooden catamaran is relocating to Raja Ampat for new life as the floating base for The SEA People – Orang Laut!


This vessel is more than ‘a boat’; it is the place where we will live, work, teach, train, collaborate and engage with local communities and marine park stakeholders. It will be our home in the field, a means to explore further than before, and a place to learn and laugh.

Having this amazing vessel in our team places us in an even stronger position to achieve our mission, and to expand our efforts to Restore, Protect and Conserve the reefs of Raja Ampat alongside local communities, and we invite you to join us as we share with you this new chapter for The SEA People!




ALL ABOARD WITH THE SEA PEOPLE - ORANG LAUT
Tomorrow we’ll start sailing from Labuan Bajo to Raja Am pat; a spectacular voyage of almost 1300 nautical miles (2400+ kms); across the Flores, Banda and Ceram seas and along some of Indonesia’s most incredible coastline.

We’re absolutely thrilled to be undertaking this trip which we know will include some pretty amazing sights (we hope including dive sites!), challenging experiences, and the greatest reward of all: arriving home in Raja Ampat. To all our supporters, friends, family and donors, your support (moral and otherwise) has helped us get this far, and will continue to mean such a great deal to us as we embark on this extraordinary and expansive new phase.


We’re excited, we’re nervous, we’re motivated, we’re jumping out of our skins… but we’re REALLY looking forward to sharing as much of this trip (and what comes after) with you as we can!
