4. Garrahan Hospital union leader Gerardo Oroz chanting slogans
5. SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Gerardo Oroz, Garrahan Hospital union leader:
"Logically, on Sunday (the government) suffered a significant blow at the polls because the workers are essentially rejecting the adjustments being implemented on all fronts, and without a doubt, the adjustment at Garrahan Hospital was very poorly received. That's why we have had strong popular support for the struggle at Garrahan Hospital. One might think that the government, well, doesn't understand the situation. We understand that they do understand it. They want to go all out against the public hospital. They want to go all out against public health, and we are going to give them a strong response."
6. Sign reading (Spanish) "Long live the Garrahan, damn it"
7. Protester singing, UPSOUND (Spanish) "big bribe-taker, Karina (Milei) is a big bribe-taker"
8. Protester holding a sign reading (Spanish) "we aren't lacking resources, we have too many thieves"
9. Various of protester Noela Jaluf, 40, banging a pot
10. SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Noela Jaluf, 40, Hemotherapy Technician at Garrahan Hospital:
"Well, the truth is, it's unfortunate because the base salary is not enough for us. It's less than 1,000,000 ($690), much less. And we live by doing night shifts, working in other places, not being with our families, resting poorly. That's the complaint. And as we are, so is the whole country. We notice that all Argentinians are in the same situation."
11. Protesters holding banners against Milei's veto
12. Banner depicting Javier Milei with the writing that reads (Spanish) "enough of terrorism"
13. Various of protesters shouting, UPSOUND (Spanish) "fight, fight"
14. Patricio González, 4, who has a congenital disorder at the protest with his mother, Milagros Gonzalez, and other family members
15. SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Milagros Gonzalez, 33, mother of child with congenital disorder:
"We are once again supporting Garrahan (hospital). We were at all the possible marches thinking that the president (Milei) would become aware (of the situation), but the truth is that the veto took us by surprise and with great sadness. We are here supporting the hospital once more, supporting the universities and the retirees, with all the struggles. Nowadays, we have to take to the streets. It is very important for people to become aware. We have to go out and fight for the country. We don't deserve it. Our children don't deserve it."
16. Protesters waving an Argentine flag
STORYLINE:
Social unrest grew on Friday with protests after Argentine President Javier Milei vetoed laws that provided funding for public universities, pediatric hospitals, and regional governments.

Staff from the Garrahan Hospital in Buenos Aires, the country's main hospital for children, marched alongside opposition parties, unions and university students and teachers.

Workers at Garrahan Hospital began a strike early Friday that will last until Sunday, while staff at the University of Buenos Aires, the country's most important public university, also went on strike.

Milei made the decision despite his recent call for dialogue with both allied and opposing governors, an attempt to regain political momentum after his party's performance in the legislative election in Buenos Aires last Sunday.
