This is the first mission, which also serves as a tutorial/introduction. We need to assassinate Diana, a stalwart character of the Hitman franchise. A somewhat cataclysmic and WTF start to the game, but let's give this a chance.
Welcome to a Let's Play of Hitman: Absolution. I am playing through this on the hardest difficulty, Purist, as that is how I think a Hitman game should be played. Needless to say, I am NOT going to go in guns blazing. I want to play it on the traditional "Silent Assassin" style of not being spotted, and killing only the targets. I am a massive fan and veteran of the series, I played ALL Hitman games, I sunk hundreds of hours into both Contract and Blood Money and I loved them. BUT, Absolution really worried me at the beginning. They announced that they axed David Bateson (the guy that voiced 47 for EVERY title), they axed Jesper Kyd (the guy that scored EVERY title), they announced stupid shit like "Instinct" and "Point Shooting". They informed us that said stupid shit would only be available for being disabled on "Purist" and that you couldn't play through the game on Purist from the beginning.
Loads of shit came out that pissed me off and made me think they were dumbing down the franchise and appealing to the cod audience.
Checkpoints. Motherfucking checkpoints. Streamlining Hitman. STREAMLINING. HITMAN.
But then things turned around, or at least appeared to. They got David Bateson back (I was one of those that signed the petition on the Hitman forums), they made Purist available instantly (I signed the petition, again (or at least, I voiced my support for the cause on the official thread), they gave us the awesome Sniper Challenge DLC (I was ranked number 1 in the world for a while, I was the first person to get all 15 headshots and a score over 4 million, on the PC, I have videos up), they released promising previews and demos. Everything looked up.
But VERY recently, in the weeks before release, there has been a resurgence in my worries. There appears to be a ditching of the sandbox style of previous Hitman games, which is a lot of what made me love them so much.
There appeared to be a crappy, stupid story that IDGAF about (or so it seemed). There appeared to be a shit-ton of cinematics and fucking quick time events (QTEs). I was worried...
So here I am, playing through the whole game on Purist mode from the moment it unlocks on steam on the 20th November 2012. Full graphics settings and 1080p for you.
Hopefully I can review the game as I play it (play it well, ideally), and have awesome things to say about it while I do so.
I dearly love Hitman, and hope I will be able to look back on this game, and this Let's Play, with nothing but nostalgia. I hope you enjoy the series.
