Along with basketball, Reese grew up participating in ballet, swimming, and track. Prior to going through two growth spurts in her first year of high school, Reese played the point guard position.

She played varsity basketball for four years at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland. Reese and Nia Clouden were teammates in the beginning of their high school careers.

She earned first-team All-Metro recognition from The Baltimore Sun in her freshman season with an average of 11.1 points and 11 rebounds per game.

In a 56-55 overtime loss against Hamilton Heights Christian Academy in the High School Nationals semifinals, Reese had 20 points and 24 rebounds.

Reese was chosen for the All-Metro first team in her sophomore season after averaging 17.6 points and 12.1 rebounds per game.

Reese made her Maryland debut on November 27, 2020, scoring a freshman season-high 20 points and grabbing nine rebounds in a 94-72 victory over Davidson.

She sustained a Jones fracture in her right foot against Towson in her fourth game of the campaign on December 3. She had surgery and was out of commission until February 23, 2021.

Reese left the bench after making her injury comeback. She was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team during her freshman season after averaging 10 points and 6 rebounds per game.

In her sophomore year, Reese took on a bigger responsibility and became into one of the best offensive rebounders in the country.

She had 21 points and 14 rebounds in her first game of the season against Longwood on November 9. Reese recorded a season-high 26 points and 15 rebounds on December 2, 2021, helping his team defeat Miami (Florida) 82-74.

She helped Maryland go to the Sweet 16 in the 2022 NCAA tournament, where she lost to top-seeded Stanford 72-66 with 25 points and 9 rebounds.


Reese became the first Maryland player to average a double-double since 1975, when Angie Scott accomplished the feat. As a sophomore, Reese averaged 17.8 points and 10.6 rebounds per game.

She and several of her teammates joined the transfer portal on April 5, 2022. She visited LSU, South Carolina, and Tennessee while being the most lauded transfer in the country.

Reese transferred to LSU on May 6, 2022, according to the program, which plays in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). She made the choice because she trusted head coach Kim Mulkey and wanted to be a part of a winning environment.

Reese became one of the greatest players in the country in her junior year. She made her LSU debut on November 7 against Bellarmine, scoring 31 points and pulling down 13 rebounds in a 125-50 victory.

In an 88-42 victory over Lamar on December 14, Reese recorded a career-high 32 points and 15 rebounds. She had 28 rebounds and 26 points in a 74-34 victory over Texas A&M on January 5, 2023.

Reese contributed 15 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists to LSU’s 102-85 victory over Iowa in the championship game, which helped the Tigers earn their first national title.

With 34 double-doubles, she not only earned the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player title but also broke the NCAA single-season record.

Reese received a personal phone call from President Joe Biden congratulating her on LSU’s triumph.
Reese was the first female player in more than 15 seasons to average over 23 points and 15 rebounds per game as a junior.

She ranked second to Lauren Gustin of BYU in terms of rebounds per game and led the NCAA Division I in both total and offensive rebounds.

Reese received honors for being named to the SEC All-Defensive Team, first-team All-SEC, and first-team All-America.
