曾文溪出海口，北起頂頭額沙洲國聖燈塔(七股燈塔)、南堤堤防及七股海埔堤防，南至曾文溪南岸青草崙堤防，東以省道台17線(國姓大橋)為界，西側海域至等深線6公尺處，面積總計3,218公頃。發源於阿里山脈，標高2,609公尺;主要支流為後堀溪、菜寮溪及官田溪。流域面積約1,176平方公里，幹流長度約138公里。位於台灣西南部的曾文溪口，由於上游帶來豐富的營養鹽，成為一個各級生物群聚的棲息地。每年10月起，吸引黑面琵鷺自韓國等地飛來過冬。範圍包括農委會公告的台南縣曾文溪口北岸黑面琵鷺野生動物保護區及台南縣曾文溪口野生動物重要棲息環境。

Originating in the Ali Mountains, the elevation is 2,609 meters; the main tributaries are Houyu Creek, Caiyu Stream and Guantian Stream. The basin area is about 1,176 square kilometers and the length of the main stream is about 138 kilometers. Located in the southwestern part of Taiwan, Zeng Wenxikou has become a habitat for biodiversity at all levels due to the rich nutrients brought by the upstream. Every October, black-faced spoonbills are attracted to fly from South Korea and other places for winter. The scope includes the Black-faced Spoonbill Wildlife Sanctuary on the northern shore of Zengwun River in Tainan County and the important habitat of Zengwun River wild animals in Tainan County.
