A man was cited for driving under the influence after a truck went into the Oklahoma City Bricktown Canal Friday night.

Oklahoma City Police responded around 9 p.m. near Oklahoma City Boulevard and Centennial Drive, where they found a blue Ram truck in the canal.

When officers approached the vehicle, they saw the driver, Mark Cushman, in the driver's seat, trying to back the vehicle out of the canal. Cushman exited the truck and was placed in the back of a patrol unit.

He told officers he was the only person in the car and was coming from the Truck Yard. Police noted in the report that Cushman had red, watery eyes, slurred speech, and the smell of alcohol on him. He refused the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.

The police report notes that Cushman drove over a parking lot sign before going into the canal. He was cited for driving under the influence and failure to devote full time and attention. His car was also impounded.
