Anatomy of a Bare Metal Synth - Jack Campbell - ADC22]

This talk is aimed at any embedded-curious audio software developers who have primarily done native software development, but are interested in what goes into building standalone music gizmos like digital synthesizers, guitar pedals, or other noisemakers. Using the Daisy platform as context, we will discuss a number of fundamental bare metal concepts such as serial communication protocols (MIDI!), direct memory access, serial audio interfaces, and general purpose input/output.

Jack Campbell

I have had a lot of fun writing audio software for the last five years. I mostly write audio stuff for Universal Audio native plugins these days, but I'm excited to share what I've learned about embedded audio programming via the deep dives I've done on the side. (And for UA in a pinch!) My education is in music from DePaul University in Chicago.
