Since ages, Berhampuri sarees are a big hit and the reason this city is named as the Silk City is because of its intricately designed silk sarees and handloom cloth. The best thing to shop from here is the famous Berhampuri Patta sarees that are gracefully designed by the expert weavers of the city. Apart from this particular variant, one can also buy the wonderful hand woven khadi silk sarees found in the shops located at the Old Bus Stand area. The intricate work these weavers put in while crafting this sarees is truly amazing.

It is one of the oldest and largest cities of Odisha. Nicknamed "The Silk City", it is famous for its silk saris, temples and unique culture. River Rushikulya is called the "Ganga" of Ganjam

About Brahmapuri reshama Pata :-
The "sari" meant for women and the "joda" meant for men. For this famous silk work, Brahmapur is also known as silk city of India.

The Berhampuri silk saree is unique due to its typical Odissi style of weaving and kumbha, particularly phoda, temple type design. "The zari work border design is different from others. The weaving technique is said to have originated over 200 years ago. The finely woven sarees were known to be exported to southeast Asian and other countries through the Gopalpur port in the days of yore. The sarees also adorn the deities of Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra at the Jagannath temple in Puri.
