MP Naz Shah on what a Labour Government should do for Gaza | The Big Picture

Описание к видео MP Naz Shah on what a Labour Government should do for Gaza | The Big Picture

Bradford West MP Naz Shah tells @el.sayyed that it’s naive to vote against pro-Palestinian voices inside Labour, because they’re the only ones who can fight for change in a new government.

Shah resigned from her frontbench position in November after she broke away from her party and voted for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Yet despite her vocal advocacy on Islamophobia and Palestinian rights, she’s come under fire from some in her community for not standing down from Labour completely in light of Keir Starmer’s vocal support for Israel’s government.

Instead, she believes that she and others have successfully pushed Starmer to eventually support a ceasefire and the ICC case - but that there was still a long fight ahead to get the party to align with her own position - that of an immediate ceasefire and an arms embargo on Israel.

On July 4, Labour is expected to win a resounding majority in the general election, making Keir Starmer the first Labour Prime Minister in 14 years.
