There’s one Via Ferrata that stands above the rest and in this case, it’s literal.

As part of a YouTube series I'm doing 'Rating the best Via Ferratas in the Italian Dolomites', in September I set out to climb Marmolada's highest summit, Punta Penia.

I was sceptical of going alone at first, since every classical route to Marmolada's summit seems to go over a glacier, however, once I studied the Cresta Ovest route I noticed that it crosses a dry glacier - where the crevasses are visible.

Cresta Ovest isn't one of the hardest Via Ferratas in the Italian Dolomites, but it is the highest and the views don't disappoint.
