This video covers every presidential oath of office from George Washington to Donald Trump. Each inauguration was recorded using one or a combination of the following mediums: illustration, photograph, film, and audio.

The earliest contemporaneous illustrated oath is that of George Washington (1789). The earliest photographed oath is James Buchanan (1857). The earliest filmed oath is William McKinley (1897). The earliest included oath with audio is Calvin Coolidge (1923) although this is very likely a reenactment. Otherwise the earliest authentic audio included is that of the Calvin Coolidge (1925) oath.

The earliest color film I’ve included within this video is that of Dwight D. Eisenhower (1957). I did find some portions of color films for the Roosevelt (1941), Roosevelt (1945), Truman (1945), Truman (1949), and Eisenhower (1953) oaths. However, I chose not to include them due to them being either incomplete or are in very low resolution compared to their black & white counterparts.

A few Presidents took the oath of office multiple times for the same term. The latest example being Barack Obama when he took a private oath on January 20, 2013 since it was on a Sunday and a public oath the very next day. For the sake of keeping the video uncluttered, I've decided to only include footage of one oath per term.

I made great efforts to make corrections of the mistakes and inaccuracies I included within my previous (2017) and (2021) oath compilations. I've also extensively searched to find the highest resolution footage of each oath that contain minimal or no watermarks.

With President Jimmy Carter’s recent passing, this video has been dedicated to his honor and memory. A memorial to him has also been placed at the beginning of this video.
