Learning how to use weight transfer in tennis is not that difficult but with so much conflicting information out there it may confuse you.

Transferring weight well into a forehand or a backhand tennis stroke helps you hit it much more effortlessly without straining your arm.

But what tends to happen when we instruct the player to hit a groundstroke with more weight transfer is that they lose balance because they move (or lean) forward too much.

Another often used instruction is to "bend your knees" as the coach hopes that as you will drive up from that bend you will figure out how to transfer weight into the ball.

It turns out this doesn't work well either and I'll show you 3 common mistakes players do when thinking about "bending their knees".

So today I have a simple mental image for you that will help with both of the above issues.

You're going to have to visualize what your pelvis / hips is doing in space while you're hitting a groundstroke.

This is a very simple solutions that has worked really well in my tennis lessons when I had to use it.
