The dollar planted in the mirror, is a painting of mine that is part of the series: The Denial of One's Image.
The figure of this paper dollar planted one-third into the broken mirror evokes several meanings and food for thought.
First, the dollar represents money, a symbol of material value and exchange, but planted in a mirror, it suggests a connection to one's own self-perception and identity.
The part dipped in glass symbolizes how monetary value can affect our personal and social image, but also how a part of us remains hidden or elusive.
The fact that the mirror is broken introduces an element of fragility and imperfection, disillusionment related to money and consumerist society, in which appearance often does not reflect reality.
In sum, this image invites reflection on the interplay between identity, material value, and self-perception, emphasizing how these elements can be interconnected and influence each other, often in complex and nonlinear ways.
