"It's always encouraging and refreshing to witness the enthusiasm and curiosity of young students in learning about music and tracker-action pipe organs," said Edward French, who has presented demonstrations of EAC's pipe organ for groups of local schoolchildren for more than 12 years. French, best known as editor of The Quoddy Tides, 'the most easterly published newspaper in the US,' based in downtown Eastport, is shown here to be a charming and thorough guide to EAC's tracker organ. "Each year, three school are invited, on a rotating basis," explained EAC's Education & Outreach Director, Alison Brennan, about the annual presentations. "The larger schools usually send their elementary instrumental students, and the smaller schools send specific grades. This way, we hope to reach as many interested students and teachers as possible, from Princeton to Lubec. When students come to EAC for the demo, they also visit Washington Street Gallery (downstairs at the center), which features the annual Youth Art Month exhibition at that time of year."
